Leaps of Faith

Let me start by stating the obvious, and only because years from now we will look back on the year 2020, reflect, and ask ourselves "Was the year as a whole that bad?" Yes. It was. Really. 2020 was a dumpster-fire of a year. Surreal, chaotic, exhausting, and heartbreaking for the world. From the brush fires raging across Australia to the US drone hit of Baghdad International Airport to take out an Iranian general. To the rising racial tensions over police brutality, to the voter fraud in the monumental election. And the capstone of it all: the hysteria of Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic. You just can't make this stuff up.

I am hoping in 2021 that Americans and the world remembers that we are all on the same side of the bigger picture. We need to find our way. I hope there is more time spent with loved ones, making memories of a lifetime, and less time hung up in front of a screen and stuck inside homes. I hope the reset button on the world is hit and everyone can achieve their resolutions and create a kick-ass bucket list to help bring about the spirit of living lives again without fear taking the reigns.

Every year I make a bucket list of things Id like to accomplish for that year - some fun, some serious, and some really out there. This year seems more important than any year before to make a list that will do justice. After months of being restricted by the pandemic, all I can dream about is getting out of the house to do stuff.

My bucket list for 2021 (to include these points, but is not complete at the moment):

  • Get an MBA with a 3.75 GPA or higher
  • Visit a new state
  • Stay in a cabin in the woods for a weekend or more
  • Go ocean fishing
  • Bring credit usage under 7%
  • Get gun license
  • Take a yoga class
  • Take a crochet class
  • Get a living will
  • Take a dinner train ride w/Aura
  • Star Trek replica set visit
  • Try a new food/drink/recipe 1x/week; Blog it at least 1x/month
  • Find 50 geocaches

In line with this bucket list, I am going to be writing a whole lot more to include my adventures with food. The good, the bad, the ugly. Sometimes I’ll be inspired by a recipe, sometimes, but a random food I’ve found in the supermarket. Additionally, there will be a handful of random adventures this year to be blogged about.

Let’s see where this takes us… Stay tuned!
